Have you joined a new religious organisation since leaving the JW's?
by Wee John insince leaving the jw's did you actively seek out another organisation, or did it find you?.
.
have you found yourself apathetic to all religions?.

JWD- Some of the Best Supportive Discussion I've Seen
by flipper init certainly is a diverse board we have here , isn't it ?
we all come from different backgrounds, walks of life, and had different experiences in growing up as children into adolescence.
so it should suffice to say, that we will all have a variety of takes on various issues that come up on the board.

Hi,as you can see i am new to this discussion board and am enjoying it... it is something i have been looking for(for a long time)...a congregation of like minded people who can relate to and accept each other without any prejudice.
I enjoy reading the new flickering lights of "truth" that my family refuse to discuss with me.
Thanks to all.

When the fog lifted - did you see the control tactics everywhere?
by AK - Jeff init took a while for me - but after some time i began to see most all religion as controlling entities, interested not only in forcing doctrine on adherents, but also, and perhaps primarily, seeking to control believers.
i initially saw this as somewhat benign, but have increasingly seen it as dangerous, even a malignant force in human social-evolution.
i see a far-right fundy church and it virtually screams "jwism" to me.

Sure did!!And i wanted to tell everyone, especially my Father (who really believes he is in control of his life)... He sometimes has his doubts and questions the society occasionaly.(Very quietly)sssshhh
They have a tactic of control over my Father....Feed his ego...give him talks at the assembly. It sure stops him thinking too much when his next bit of free time is taken up with rehearsing a talk.

Would you care for your elderly JW parents in time of medical need?
by sweetstuff inthis thought came to me as result of another thread on healthcare.
alot of people consider caring for their elderly parents to be a burden, mentally, physically and economically.
so my question is this, add into that the emotional upheaval of being shunned or semi shunned by your parental units due to their faith in "jehovah's organization" (i physically gag when i even type that, lol) would you turn your back on them and said, payback is a bitch isn't it?

...i am in Australia while my parents are in Scotland. The thought crosses my head all the time and at this point in time i say let their cong. look after them if anything happens...after all they chose them over me... so yeh lifes a bitch.(yep still angry)

After breaking free i chose The New Jerusalem bible(Readers Edition). Its footnotes are often pushing the Catholic viewpoint but none the less its an easy read with it broken up into context. The O/T uses Yahweh in all the right places.I highly recommend it.
